Brief: Create immersive AR experiences for Raglan Castle using 5G to engage visitors with interactive historical scenes, games, and virtual dress-up features.

As the graphic designer at Jam Creative Studios, I played a crucial role in creating an immersive AR experience for Cadw at Raglan Castle. Our mission was to enrich the educational and cultural value of the visit, especially for younger audiences and history and technology enthusiasts.

We engaged with our target demographics throughout the development process, collecting feedback on their preferences and testing prototypes. This research was essential in guiding our design decisions, ensuring that the final AR experience effectively resonated with and engaged our audience.

The following photos capture a testing session with a key segment of our target audience—children aged 7-12. Testing with this group was crucial for obtaining authentic, real-world feedback, helping us refine the app to deliver the best possible solution.

In collaboration with my team, including developers and a 3D modeller, I played a key role in transforming Raglan Castle’s history into an interactive AR journey.

Visitors can use hired iPads to explore the castle, with 3D reconstructions overlaying the ruins to vividly recreate architectural details, daily life, and historical figures.

My primary focus was designing user interfaces for these interactive elements, integrating visual and auditory information to enhance the overall experience.

This AR feature not only revived the castle's past but also made the visit more engaging and accessible, leveraging modern technology to create a memorable experience for all visitors.
